REVERSAL OF DECAY
There are several techniques for reversing decay.
I. The use of Ozone gas and water to kill the bacteria that cause cavities and to eliminate the acids formed by the bacteria.
While research indicates that only one treatment is necessary, the research did not try using repeated treatments. In our opinion,
it is probable that repeated exposure to Ozone can help not only eliminate the bacteria and acids, but also prevent them from recolonizing
the cavities.
II. The use of recalcifying agents to provide the minerals necessary to help the teeth repair themselves after application of Ozone. There are several agents available to do this. The following is a list of some of those agents that you might want to try:
a. Arm and Hammer Enamel care with liquid Calcium
b. Several other Arm and Hammer Enamel strengthening toothpastes
c. Trident Xtracare gum with Recaldent
d. Sensodyne Repair and Protect toothpaste
e. Dr. Collins Restore Toothpaste
f. Burt’s Bees Natural Toothpaste
III. Xylitol is a naturally occuring sugar sweetener that has been shown to help prevent decay.
a. TheraGum and TheraMints
b. Spry
c. Biotene
d. Dentiva
e. Natural Dentist
f. Supersmile Professional Whitening Gum
g. Trident Gum
h. Spiffies
IV. ProBiotics can be specifically designed to change the type of bacteria that are present in the mouth from the type that cause cavities
and gum disease to those that do not. We have available ProBiotics that seem to have these characteristics here in our office in the form of
EvoraPlus.
While the evidence shows repeatedly the ability to reverse decay using these products and techniques, there is also the possibility that other
things may promote an increase in acid in the saliva. These can include stress, many diseases and gastric reflux. Hopefully working together
we can help reverse or prevent decay in your mouth. As always there are articles on our website at lvimplant.com that provide additional
infomation and you can ask us for more information if you would like.
